It is considered as a non-caste and non-religion based reservation, the 10%general category reservation bill will benefit the weaker sections of the upper caste Hindus Muslims, Christians, and other religions, who at present are not beneficiaries of any quota. it will provide reservations in jobs and higher educational institutions unaided institutions, barring minority institutions.

The 10% quota provision is over and above the existing 50%quota for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other Backward classes and the proposal will take the total reservations to 60%after it becomes a law

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE 10%QUOTA BILL

The 10%reservations bills will be applicable to the economically backward among Hindus, Muslim, and Christians. Among the major Hindu caste to benefit from the quota bill are Brahmins, Rajput's jats Marathas Bhumihars vaishyas along with Patidars or Patels, Gujjars, Kappus, and Karmas, depending on which caste group is listed in a state under which category.

People earning below RS 8lakh per annum and possessing agricultural land below 5acres and residential houses below 1,000 square feet are eligible to apply.
